The RAR regimental association

A formal Regimental Association of the Rhodesian African Rifles was formed on the Regiment's return from Burma in 1946. The Association continued its work until the Regiment was disbanded in 1981.
The Regimental Association was re-constituted into its present form in 1989, driven principally by the vision, determinations and hard work of one of the Regiment’s former Commanding Officers, Brigadier FGD Heppenstall MLM.
The Aims of the Association may be interpreted to be:

To preserve the spirit of comradeship among Members.

To raise funds to provide benevolence to former and entitled Members of the Regiment, the Association, and to their spouses, widows, widowers and dependents who are in need.

To remember and to preserve the Regimental legacy through continuing to expand the Regimental History and through managing effectively its property, including the recovery and preservation of regimental artefacts, the former property of the Rhodesia Native Regiment or the Rhodesian African Rifles.

To provide leadership through an Association Committee, dedicated to the achievement of the above aims.

Membership of the Association is open to both former serving members of the Regiment and others who are interested in the Association and its aims. Membership costs only £10 annually. If you are interested in joining the Association, or interested in donating to the Association, please contact our Treasurer on rar.uk.treasurer@gmail.com .
